Made famous by 3x NATIONAL CHAMPION Team Honda’s Marty Hart, But I also don't know anything about carb tuning on 2-strokes.Īlso I don't no if this matters too much but it has a DG pipe and silencer, aftermarket reeds, and a K&N filter and it didn't come with an airbox lid.The #1 ATC 250R pipe. All of the wires and connections are in good shape. All the troubleshooting points to a faulty electrical component but there isn't anything left to replace except for the rotor. I tested all the electrical components with an OHM meter and everything is within tolerance except for the pulse generator which came with the new stator. So I bought a stator and another CDI and installed that yesterday but it still acts the same. So I bought another CDI box and an AC reg., and it ran for a little bit longer (20 miles or so). I thought it was the CDI box and ignition coil and plug boot it actually worked for a little bit (a couple miles) then it was back again. has been cleaned thoroughly and set at the factory settings, I've even tried bigger/smaller jets and adjusting the needle.Īs far as the revving issue it will rev up probably about 75% then it just bogs. I've tried adjusting the idle screw and the carb. I can make it run at idle speeds with use of the throttle. It will start and run but wont idle by itself if I let off the throttle. ![]() So I have this 1986 ATC 250R and I have had the same two problems with it since I bought it a couple years ago.
